The role
The purpose of the role is to develop and deliver new business (B2B) via a clear sales strategy, and to lead and develop our BD team. The Head of BD will be responsible for generating a strong sales pipeline and working with the Delivery team with the knowledge that work will be executed at the highest level. They will also work collaboratively with the Head of Marketing, Business Insight team and in-house Analyst to identify new opportunities. We’re seeking someone who can engage with leaders, and take full ownership of their own pipeline, whilst mentoring the BD team who develop our warm leads.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- 100% new business development targeting C-level, Founders, or VC/PE contacts (B2B),
- Setting a sales strategy/roadmap to achieve commercial objectives,
- Prospecting Clients and Partner organisations face to face and by telephone,
- Negotiating and closing deals with fast growth businesses that would benefit from our expertise,
- Developing a strong sales pipeline and reporting sales activity,
- Maintaining and developing strong Client and Partner relationships,
- Attending networking and business seminars to raise your profile,
- Leading a BD team, providing support and direction, and driving continuous development.
The successful candidate will have:
- Have recent proven Executive search or B2B Consultancy experience at Consultant, Managing Consultant or Partner level,
- Be articulate, with a track record of selling to senior Board/Executive level individuals,
- Have meticulous attention to detail,
- High level of interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Be able to work autonomously and collaboratively with Marketing and the wider team to develop and deliver creative and integrated go-to-market and BD strategies,
- Have experience of managing or mentoring a team,
- Be process driven with the ability to embed best practice and prioritise to meet tight deadlines,
- Have a KPI and target/performance driven approach,
- Be hands on, a driven self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset,
- Have a strong drive for self-improvement with a ‘fail fast, learn fast’ mentality,
- Be confident working remotely but with a willingness to travel to attend monthly internal meetings and client meetings as and when required,
- Have a relevant qualification (degree level preferable).
